Launched as part of a broader educational reform, the Merdeka curriculum aims to create an engaging learning environment where students can explore their interests and develop essential skills. This curriculum aligns with the study conducted by Khaulah Afifa and Tri Astuti, focusing on integrating technology into learning experiences.
A key component of this educational reform is IPAS (Integrated Natural and Social Sciences), designed to merge principles of natural and social sciences into a cohesive learning framework. IPAS plays a crucial role in elementary education by fostering a holistic understanding of both scientific concepts and social dynamics. The significance of this study lies in its focus on how digital learning media can enhance motivation and learning outcomes within the IPAS curriculum. The main objective of the study titled „The Effect of Digital Learning Media on Motivation and Learning Outcomes of IPAS“ is to analyze how digital learning tools affect student motivation and academic performance in IPAS lessons. Conducted in Class V at SD Gugus Wijaya Kusuma, this research focuses on an important educational setting that reflects broader trends in Indonesian education, particularly regarding the implementation of the Merdeka curriculum.
By examining the effects of digital learning media, the study aims to uncover insights into how these tools can transform traditional learning environments into dynamic spaces that encourage enthusiasm and deeper understanding among fifth-grade students. The research involves a sample size of 59 students and employs a quantitative approach, utilizing various data collection techniques such as questionnaires, interviews, and observations to gather comprehensive insights into student experiences.
A Comprehensive Approach to Data Collection
The methodology used in this study is based on a quantitative research design, enabling systematic analysis of the relationship between digital learning tools and educational outcomes. The research involved 59 fifth-grade students from three elementary schools within the Gugus Wijaya Kusuma cluster, providing a diverse sample that reflects Indonesia’s broader educational context.
Data collection methods included interviews, observations, and questionnaires, ensuring a comprehensive approach to gathering insights about students‘ experiences with digital media. The study focuses on three key variables: two independent variables—Digital Learning Media and Student Learning Motivation—and one dependent variable, Student Learning Outcomes. Structured questionnaires containing 15 statements measured on a Likert scale assessed students‘ perceptions of digital learning media and their motivation levels. Additionally, cognitive assessments evaluated learning outcomes based on daily test scores.

The researchers utilized a t-test to evaluate the significance of relationships between independent variables—Digital Learning Media and Student Learning Motivation—and the dependent variable, Student Learning Outcomes. Additionally, R-squared analysis determined the proportion of variance in student learning outcomes explained by digital learning media and motivation, revealing that digital media accounts for 20.2% of variance in learning outcomes.
